Robartes follows a ‘Thrive Approach’ – this is a technique that helps adults gain a better understanding of what a child is attempting to communicate through their behaviour. There are times when something triggers a memory or feeling that we find difficult to manage. Some children find their thoughts and feelings can become so overwhelming that they are unable to focus and engage in their learning. During the ‘Thrive Approach’ children are given opportunities to work with a trained practitioner who helps them to gain a better understanding of how they are feeling and recognise and name their emotions. This in turn facilitates a better understanding of their behaviour and enables them to gradually start a process of changing previous patterns. It encourages children to understand the source of their behaviour and the consequences attached to their actions.
The Thrive Approach draws on the latest research - from current neuroscience, recent attachment research, current studies of effective learning and current models of child development – in order to help adults understand children’s behaviour as communication. (The Thrive Approach)
